Questions about airport transfers in Dallas, asked before you reserve

These are questions about airport transfers in Dallas that come up before a ride, answered in one place. They follow the order a request moves in: what to settle before you reserve, how the fixed fare works, and what happens at the curb. Each answer is short. When yours is missing, call during phone hours or write to the desk, and a person reads it.

Before you reserve

Which airport is the quicker drive from my address?
It depends on where you start. From Downtown Dallas, Uptown, Highland Park, Plano or Mesquite, Love Field is the quicker drive. From Irving, Coppell, Grapevine, Lewisville or Arlington, DFW is the quicker drive. Your ticket decides the airport, of course; the miles only shape the fare band. Each town on the service areas page lists road miles and free-flowing minutes to both.
How far ahead should I send a request?
As soon as your flight is set. The form takes requests at any hour. One sent overnight gets its reply when the phone opens again. The desk has to find a local company with a car free at your pickup hour, so an early request leaves it more hours to look. For a van, keep in mind that its change window closes 7 days before pickup.
Do I need to tell you about a gate?
Yes, please. In a gated neighborhood the form asks whether a guard, a call box or a keypad lets cars in, then for the code or the name on the list. At an apartment community it asks for the vehicle gate code, the building number or letter, and where you would like to meet the car. Without these, a driver can sit outside while your pickup time runs.
Can I get child seats in the car?
Ask for them in the request and say how many. Child seats are something the company prices in its quote only when a rider asks, so they show up as a named line in the written fare before you accept. If the quote you get back has no child seat in it, reply before saying yes and the desk will ask the company again.

Paying the fare

Who takes my payment?
The car company that drives you. You pay it by card in the car, or however its confirmation spells out. This site takes no payment, and the desk never charges riders anything. Each company pays the desk one set fee per ride, and the desk bills that fee to the company, never to you. Asking for a quote costs nothing and commits you to nothing.
What does the fixed rate cover?
The car and its driver for the ride, tolls on the route, the airport access charge, the large bags your vehicle size carries, and the free wait: 30 minutes after a domestic landing, 45 after an international landing at DFW, 15 at your address. Once you accept, the figure holds through traffic, road work or any route the driver picks. Waiting past the free window and a stop on the way are priced as extras in the company's quote.
Is the tip part of the fare?
No. The driver's tip sits outside the fixed rate, and whether to give one, and how much, is up to you. Under the standing terms on the terms page, the company's written quote lists its price for extras such as waiting or a stop, and its confirmation sets out what a late cancellation costs. The tip is the one amount you set yourself. You can hand it to the driver at the curb once the bags are out.
Why did my quote come in above the starting figure?
The pricing page prints a from-figure for each vehicle size and each distance band, the floor where fares for that pairing start. A company can name a higher fixed rate for your hour or address, and it tells you so in writing before you accept. The quote also lists what the company charges for extras such as a stop or a child seat. The band depends on road miles from your pickup to the airport: under 12, 12 to 25, or 25 or more.

On the day of the ride

Where will the driver meet me when I land?
At DFW, on the lower level, in the zone the airport keeps for pre-arranged pickups; the company's text names the door and the car. At Love Field, a sedan or SUV meets you at the valet pavilion in Garage C, Level 1, as the airport posts it, and for a van the text names the spot. Leaving, you are dropped at your terminal's departures curb at DFW, or at the upper-level curb by the ticketing hall at Love Field.
My flight is running late. What happens?
Put your flight number in the request so the company knows which arrival to watch for. The free wait is counted from when you actually land: 30 minutes after a domestic flight, 45 after an international arrival at DFW. On the day, reach the company on the phone line printed in its confirmation. Waiting past the free window is charged at the rate the company's quote lists.
Can I change or cancel a pickup?
For a sedan or SUV you can change or cancel without charge up to 24 hours before the pickup time. For a van the window closes 7 days before. A later cancellation or a no-show is charged by the company only under the terms in the confirmation you accepted. The desk never charges you. The cancellation policy sets out each case.
Which details does the confirmation hold?
It arrives from the car company by text, and by email when you gave one. Look for four things: the fixed fare, the car, the meeting point, and the company's own phone line for the day of your ride. Keep it open on your phone at the airport, since the meeting point and the day's number both sit in that message. The desk and the company contact you on the number you put in the form, and only about this request. Send STOP whenever you want the messages to end.

Still unsure about something?

Some questions depend on your door, your flight or your group. Call during phone hours and speak to a transfer specialist in Dallas, or send the form and a person on the desk writes back. When you are ready, reserve an airport pickup with the details you already have.
